Interesting Facts about the career

  • A school counselor and a guidance counselor are not the same- A school counselor works as the professional psychologist for the school/college and its students. Their work is focused on making sure the academic curriculum is best suiteed and appropriately implemented. They also tackle all mental health related issues in the institution

  • School Counsellors are different from therapists- School counsellors tackle the mental health issues in the school/college but do not provide therapy. They may/may not be liscenced psychologists. 

  • Earliest Intelligence test- The first ever IQ test was built by psychologist Alfred Binet to assess learning disbilites in children in French schools in 1857. Today, a variation of the test is used universally to determine IQ.
