Finance- as the name suggests, managing the finances of the company is at the core of a CFO’s role. He/she must be able to perform a certain amount of financial planning for the organisation.
Link- The CFO acts as the link between the management and the board of directors. They are also answerable to the board of directors about the company's finances, progress, and policies.
Staying updated and Compliance- As leader of the finance team, the CFO must stay updated on any changes in policy or laws such as the Companies Act, or other regulations. He/she must also ensure that the company functions in line will all the regulations set by the rbi,SEBI etc.
Treasury functions- The CFO ensures that borrowing happens at an optimal cost and there is liquidity availability in line with the size of the company.
Investor Relations- It is the job of the CFO to ensure that the company maintains good relations with its investors and is answerable to them.
Core Accounting- Accounting functions such as auditing, tax review etc also fall under the purview of the CFO.
