PLANS & PRICING
Your LinkedIn profile is like your social media profile for recruiters. Having an attractive LinkedIn profile is important to connect with new people, be visible to potential employers and recruiters and will open you up to a variety of new opportunities. Here are our tips to make your LinkedIn profile more attractive:
Your Profile Picture(s): Make sure you choose a recent, close up picture for your profile icon. Dress professionally and smile! Looking approachable in your profile picture is an important step in networking and landing opportunities. Many people skip the background picture- the second visual element in your profile. But adding something there will make your profile stand out. Give potential employers and recruiters a glimpse into your life but make sure you keep it professional!
Create a Bold Headline: The headline is the first thing people read after your name when they view your profile. Have fun with it! Showcase your speciality, your USP. A captivating headline will lead to more clicks on your profile.
Write a Summary: Use the summary space to give visitors a brief about you. Make it creative, highlight your successes, past projects, your passions and skills. Keep it brief, but make it interesting. You may want to add a fun or quirky element like “amateur Yogi” to your summary to draw more attention.
Stay away from Buzzwords: The whole point of the summary space is to introduce yourself and make yourself seem qualified. It may be tempting to use words like ‘stategic’, ‘passionate’ ‘hard worker’, ‘skilled’ and so on but avoid those. SHOW them by putting up pictures of certificates, describe projects you have worked on and your specific role etc. it's more important to show than to just say.
Recommendations: If you have worked hard on something, don’t shy away from asking your supervisor, boss or colleague for a recommendation. Ask them to make it specific and talk about what you did and how it was instrumental. This further gies proof of your qualifications and interests.
Keep your profile updated: Make sure your profile is up to date with your education, volunteer and work experiences, licenses and certificates you have received, blog you may have written, pictures or video from your creative portfolio. This makes your profile stand out especially when recruiters may filter by experience, company, school or skill.
