Setting boundaries is very important for the sake of your mental health, which in the long term will affect your productivity at work.
Your company culture may dictate that “everyone be on” at all times and while it may seem necessary, this can have severe implications on your personal relationships, health, and happiness.
Carve out time when you can cut off and when it will definitely not affect work outcomes. Ex. Sundays. Plan how you’d spend that time beforehand and if company culture allows, share your excitement for such plans with your colleagues.
Add in a polite out of office message indicating that you are away when you can expect a direct response back and who you can contact in case of emergency when you are away on holiday or on Sundays.
Set manageable terms with your colleagues. For instance, email to schedule a meeting, text if something unexpected happens, and call only if necessary, etc.
