PLANS & PRICING
Sometimes, in a small organisation or a startup, you may often be assigned roles or tasks that are not necessarily your niche or what you signed up for. Here's what you can do about it-
Reflect- Look at things from the organisation’s perspective. Does the task need skills or knowledge that only you possess? Are they related to a specific project or are they more long term?
Compare- If you realise that the tasks can be done by others in the organisation, are not your niche and they are continuously assigned to you, make a list of the originally agreed upon responsibilities and what you are responsible for right now. Compare the two lists and identify how they are different.
Talk to your boss- approach your boss and explain your situation. Show them how the tasks and responsibilities on the original list are more in line with your goals and ambitions. Suggest what you can do more of and how your current responsibilities can be handled.
Introspect- Sometimes, you may have been hired when there wasn’t a dedicated position or role for you. Reflect on what else you might be gaining and learning in the current role. If you are tied to the initial description of the role and if it appears that the organisation might not be able to give you a chance to exercise those skills, you might want to consider other jobs that would give you an opportunity to hone your desired skill set.
